Proposition bets - props - are wagers placed on an event within a contest not necessarily related to the outcome of the contest. For example, a sportsbook may offer a prop bet on which player is going to score the first points in a basketball game. What is a Proposition Bet?Proposition bets are as many and varied as the bookmaker wants to offer. It is rare that the Online Sports Betting System can be applied to proposition bets, but not impossible. Some of the betting exchanges offer proposition bets, so there is some basis for determining the market value of the sportsbooks offer. You should exercise caution, however, as the overall demand for prop bets is significantly lower than it is for bets on the game's outcome. With lower demand it becomes more likely that the exchange offerings are not reflecting the true market value of the bet. The harder part is finding a sportsbook that is offering the same prop bets as the exchange. Prop bets are added by the bookmaker as a means of enticing some extra bets to increase the volume of money bet and We Rarely Bother with Prop BetsWe generally do not bother with proposition bets. We get our fill on regular event-based bets that meet the OSBS criteria. It is generally not worth the extra time spent looking for deals in prop land - but you may find some values there if you want to look. FuturesFutures bets are bets placed on an event that may not be decided for weeks or months. Odds on who will win the baseball's World Series are often posted before the season starts. Total season wins are also a common sportsbook offering. There Are Some Futures Bets We LikeBecause our bankroll discipline allows us to only have up to 10% invested in open bets at any one time, we tend to shy away from most futures betting as it would tie up our funds for too long. This is rarely an inconvenience or burden as the Online Sports Betting System is not applicable to most futures betting. The exception to this is futures bets on a specific series of games, like the NBA best-of-seven championship finals. You can find good value bets on a variety of game series available a few days before the series begins. Futures bets on MLB series are available all season long. (Typically MLB teams will play each other 3 or 4 times in a row during the regular season, called a series.) Futures bets using the OSBS may be worth taking if your money is only tied up for a week or two.
